Re: Problems with D7 chord

Yeah, I was planning to ask my piano teacher about this today. I've been using the ring finger on my left hand and my pointer finger on the right to reach the F#, because that feels more comfortable to me, but then it gets a littler harder to play C and D well (plus it's a bit of a stretch to reach ...

Re: Volume Changing

For some reason I never saw that feature listed either. Would be really great to have it, though. Sometimes when you change an instrument over to piano the track is too quiet and its gets buried under the rest of the song. This would save me the trouble of having to modify it in another program.

Re: Has anyone used Sythesia to *memorize* pieces?

And it just seems like you spend more time thinking about each note and about your fingering positions when you play with sheet music. With Synthesia, even in Practice Mode, I tend to play as quickly as I can, and I'm only concerned with hitting the notes. Plus, even with bookmarks, I tend to play t...

Re: Need some place to start since I'm new with playing pian

I wish there was some kind of "ladder" I could follow. "Learn this song. When you got about 85-90% correct, move on to this song next". Well, there is , but you're not going to like it. The G Major Music files, while not terribly interesting, do a great job of teaching you the basics. You start wit...

Re: Has anyone used Sythesia to *memorize* pieces?

There's parts of some songs I have memorized from Synthesia, but it seems infinitely easier to learn from reading the sheet music. With sheet music, you tend to go through and practice small sections over and over again until you've mastered them. In Synthesia, you generally run through the entire s...

Re: Piano School for Synthesia?

Obviously a one-on-one piano instructor would be ideal, but not everyone can do that. What would be the harm in having files in Synthesia that run through a set of exercises (maybe something similar to what they offer in Rock Band 3)? It would be another reason for people to purchase the Learning Pa...

It works fine when I switch it back to my default output. I think I screwed something up in uncompressing the Fluid files.

Re: HowTo: Using TiMidity++ to improve your Windows MIDI out

I'm having some trouble setting this up. I've gotten it to work twice before, but something's not working on my new system. I drag the FluidR3 GM/GS.sfArk files onto my sfArk shortcut and it automatically uncompresses them, but instead of an exe file it generates a .SF2 file. I tried throwing that i...

If the speed would increase back up to 100% by the time the first note appeared, wouldn't it be the same as having a longer delay between hitting Play and the point where the notes first appear? I mean, is that what you're after with this?

Re: The Sheet Music

A topic in bug reports that requests some small issues in the sheet music be cleaned up where each of your examples is accompanied by a song and measure number so I can reproduce it and test against the fix would be much more useful. I'm not trying to point out a rare, specific bug, though. These b...

The Sheet Music

It's been awhile since I've used Synthesia's sheet music feature but... it really doesn't seem to work at all, even with this latest release. With the Page Flip setting, my red progress bar sits a good distance beyond the note I need to play. With the Scrolling setting, the red bar constantly gets t...

Re: Success Story - Game Mode

I do love unlocking things, and that feeling of progression you get when working through a Career Mode in something like Rock Band. What about some sort of tutorial program that took you through a more select group of G Music Theory songs that you unlocked in tiers (since they're already divided up ...

Re: Keyboard available in Rock Band 3

Jeez, the keyboard (and the adapter thingy) are both surprisingly expensive. $80 for 25 keys? Add like $15 and get 49 instead ... That seems like a strange pricing strategy. I spent $20 on a 52 key, so I was a little surprised about this. I'll just grab the converter and use the keyboard I have. Bu...

I know I've got a cable to recharge wireless controllers that's USB. I wonder if I could connect their keyboard to the PC with that.

That keyboard looks ridiculous. I guess it only really allows for one hand at a time.

Re: Music Video Support

This seems... pointless. Actually, worse than pointless. Not only would it waste development time, but songs would suddenly go from 10 KB to 600 MB each. And for no real reason at all, either, as you're watching the notes. Plus, I can watch people play the game as-is and be very entertained. It's mo...

Re: Scoring

Now that I think about it, if extra points are given for holding a note, that'll open up a lot more score variation. It's pretty difficult to hold a note on some of the faster songs, when you know you got to move your hand up an octave a second later. I guess we'll see.

Re: Scoring

It'll be nice to have the ratings (Perfect, Great, etc) around for whenever Performance Analysis comes out. But... yeah, maybe that's all they should be used for. I like the idea you have now. It always bothered me in GH when you'd be a second or so off and the song would still play flawlessly, but ...

Re: Keyboard available in Rock Band 3

The falling notes is absolutely the initial appeal. It's fun, it's familiar, it's informal. I certainly had no intention of paying for anything upfront. It was only after I started gathering more interest, and I started to see how difficult the instrument was and how helpful those Practice Mode tool...
