Re: midi song for left and right hand

Now that you've assigned hands, just choose the "Auto Color" button at the lower-right corner of the part settings screen (shown in step #10) to hide all the other tracks.

Alternatively you could set each of their colors to the gray tile with a red X, like it shows in step #5 of the same guide.

Re: Synthesia and tablette

If you tried both (and completely closed the app each time you changed the setting), it sounds like you did everything correctly. The next step is to try some other MIDI-enabled app from Google Play to see if it also can/cannot communicate with your digital piano. That will help narrow down whether ...

Re: Help - Note Loudness

If you're using a touch-screen to play notes this won't have any effect. The "Match Your Own Input" refers to the velocity being sent by a touch-sensitive digital piano.

(It looks like you just dragged the files right into the text editor window instead of using the Attachments tab. The files aren't attached.)

Re: Suggestion: Making MIDI Files

The latest 10.7 preview just got a simple multi-track recorder. Otherwise, for the kinds of more advanced editing you're looking for, you'll need a music editing app that can export your song as a MIDI file.

Re: The ONE Piano Hi-Lite and Synthesia

If I remember correctly, it is bad practice to connect a shield at both ends of a cable. If connected at both ends, a current can flow in the shield and create a field rather than shielding the proper conductors contained in the shield from external electrical fields. While reading a few articles a...

That change feels not very hard to implement.
It took deleting three lines of code. :D

Alright, that'll be in the next Synthesia 10.7 development preview. We'll see how many emails this generates saying "the virtual piano isn't working!" because they didn't notice their Caps Lock key was on...

Re: Full virtual piano PC keyboard mapping (+uppercase)

Pressing both lowercase and uppercase is not possible at the same time... This particular con seems big enough to be a deal-breaker to me. It feels like it'd be strange to only be able to play white keys OR black keys, never at the same time. This scheme should already work with the top (number) ro...

Re: Synthesia and tablette

On the Settings screen inside Synthesia, do you see a choice at the top for "Music Device Connection Method"? If you do, try choosing the other option in that list. Then, swipe the app completely closed. After that, does your device show up in the list?

Re: Practice routine in Synthesia?

You can copy those folders to Synthesia's documents area. In the Files app check Locations --> On This iPad. There should be a Synthesia entry there. Anything you place in that folder should show up organized in the same hierarchy inside the app (using that orange song list entry I mentioned before).

Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

With enough samples, the right answer is a histogram (which neatly takes into account outliers). But I'm not sure anyone spends enough time in a single loop to collect that many samples. For what it's worth "see which passages you're making mistakes" is the tag line for Synthesia 12. (You don't want...

Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

The keyboard can be hidden easily by dragging the blue block (that appears during pause) all the way down.

And the single-line sheet view is still available when both sheet music and falling notes are enabled simultaneously.

Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

This has been a tricky one. The falling notes only become "important" closer to the keyboard, where that statistics overlay window doesn't usually get in the way). Even if it does, the falling notes eventually move someplace else where you can see them again. It's been a lot more challenging to find...

Re: Practice routine in Synthesia?

If you arrange your songs in folders on your computer (or wherever you happen to be using Synthesia), then you can use the orange "All Songs (grouped by folder)" entry at the top of the song list to view them in whatever categories/hierarchies you've setup.

The recommendation list---and especially the rest of the tips on that page---are still up to date.

Digital piano models change very slowly. Yamaha has been selling the EZ-220 for almost 8 years now and it's still the most recent model! :)

I dunno, all the note lengths seem correct to me... even if they don't technically fit inside that measure anymore. But no, you are correct. This is absolutely Synthesia's fault. I am sorry for the inconvenience. The accidentals in measure two are because MIDI doesn't carry note naming informa...

Re: How to show the correct key signature in Synthesia

I suspect it's just a bug in the DisAssembler. (That one is much older and is known to have a couple other bugs, too.) One way to get a second opinion: take the MIDI produced by the DisAssembler and the deconstruct it again using the MTX converter. It'll probably report "Major", too. Even a round-tr...

Re: How to show the correct key signature in Synthesia

The people from Musescore are wrong. Choose "Key Signature" from the sidebar on this page . The second ("mi") data byte is a flag that specifies major/minor. As best as I can tell though, very few MIDI-exporting applications seem to use that flag. Synthesia knows how to interpret it. It sounds like ...

Re: Screen aspect ratio issue on wide cellphones

Thanks for the screenshot. Unfortunately, this is a known issue. Synthesia's UI was designed for tablet-sized screens, but when we released the Android version of the app (back in 2014), we learned that Google Play wasn't especially great at only delivering apps to tablets. Some (large) phones were ...
