Show Play Statistics

Hi, The next version of Synthesia will change the main screen layout so that it displays a "last played songs" list, etc. However, such change leaves some extra space that could be used to show usage statistics. For instance, something similar to what is used on Wii Fit (Activity Log) or Duolingo (w...

[Sheet Music] Wrong keys color (small fix).

In Synthesia 9, when you press a wrong key they are painted blue in the sheet music view (the same color as the correct notes). I would like to request a small change so as to paint the wrong keys gray or red in order to properly hint that they are being wrongly pressed. Currently, you only see that...

Re: Synthesia 0.8.2

It's really cool that you got SQLite integrated but in my opinion it should also be used to manage your progress in the game [you already have icons for this but only show in the scoreboard and not in the library]: - clearer songs (were you got level A or better) - learn-in-progress (level B or wors...

Re: Help! Won't recognize Yamaha ez-200

Strange, mine worked immediately although I had to plug in the midi-out -> the midi-in slot on the EZ-200. Have you tried that? (there is helper screen on synthesia about this: try swapping the in-out) And what OS are you using? (and my Xmidi lights are all off when it is idle - no sound going in no...

Wrong keys/lights on Moonlight Sonata.

I am using a Yamaha EZ200 and when I try to play either version of Moonlight Sonata (that comes with Synthesia) the keyboard on the screen and the lighted keys (on the real keyboard) are shifted one octave down. That is, when I am supposed to play C4 it lights C3 on the keyboard (on all other songs ...

Re: Quick improvements to the ingame scoreboard

Can't, it's windows only and I am on a Mac.

(but from what I read you have a very nice speed-adjusting mode)

Re: Sheet music to MIDI files

Like the idea of using OCR to get a MIDI file but that application is way to unintuitive and buggy for $49 ... or did you find a free version of it?

A quick google search gives the following open-source alternative:
http://audiveris.kenai.com/
( still need to test it, but at least it's free )

Re: Quick improvements to the ingame scoreboard

Cool! :)
Looking forward to the next preview!

( I also noticed that my current score is not *always* in view as well but I am still looking for a pattern since most if the time it is. )

Re: Timing feedbacks near the pressed key... [mockup!]

Well, if you are the kind of person that uses the 88 keys in one go you probably do not need all those timing helpers anyway - this is more to help beginners like me. But you can have a very small timing notations with just different shades of red or different colors, in that 88 case. For instance i...

Re: Quick improvements to the ingame scoreboard

Yes, #1 appears to be a bug or at least on the last preview version it usually highlights my score (although sometimes it does not, but still have not detected a pattern - so disregard this, sorry). ... err, I forgot exactly the point of some of the stuff I wrote on #2 :P I think a bit of it was tha...

Re: Wrong stats on loop.

Well, I respectfully disagree. I believe this is unexpected or unintuitive behavior, if it is not from the start it should either mark the score as "incomplete" or something and not fake the result. The first few times I was actually unsure of why it showed 0/0 until I noticed the pattern. But I agr...

Re: Timing feedbacks near the pressed key...

(of all songs and shows it's that?) What? See attached mockup, it does not have to get in the way... and that mockup kind of wastes a bit of space anyway so you can make it even tighter. The point is the timings feedback should be near of where you are looking, in my case is near the "current key" ...

By the time it gets back to €15, Synthesia will cost more than $25 :P

Re: Prices

Well since he is using USD you will also pay for the currency exchange, I used Google checkout and they give an estimate of the price in EUR but it depends on the current rate and your bank fees (if they have any).

So 20 Euros is probably a good estimate...

Re: Grouped notes

Just using the built-in MIDI synth., no output (no keyboard attached). Every single time I let Synthesia play on its own it "misses" notes, but it is not always the same note. I think the faster the music gets the worse it plays (ie. at 200% it missed more notes). I do not notice this bug all that m...

Re: Full-Time Synthesia

Yes, I noticed your amazon referrals tags but did not know if you got payed for just a click or an actual purchase. I guess the fear of clones has some point to it, but with a company support contract you could probably just go back to open-source. And in most cases the real point is that many (diff...

Re: Full-Time Synthesia

Have you tried to get some corporate sponsors? For instance you are basically advertising Yamaha and EMU products on your page and I bought my Yamaha EZ-200 and the EMU Xmidi cable (btw a company that I never heard before) based on your recommendations, and even your help on this forum... they could...

Re: Merge "falling notes" and "sheet music" [with ugly mocku

Really Pianotehead? You like the current "music sheet" style? Are you very fluent on reading music notes? I always get lost even on simple songs that I am perfectly able to play without Synthesia and just using the sheet music. (even if ignoring Synthesia bugs on this mode) I remember reading a topi...
