Re: Change key signature
Thanks Nicholas. I changed it in Logic Pro. Nice to see all sharps at last - for my song, anyway.

Re: Change key signature
I want to assign a key at the beginning (C#minor - E major). How do I do that? My main concern is having C# not Db (and G# not Ab, etc) on the falling notes.

Re: Ultrawide Monitor - Dsplay Problems
OK, I used 'clamshell' mode and it fixed it.

Ultrawide Monitor - Dsplay Problems
I have a new MacBook Pro and downloaded Synthesia. I haven't used it for about 5 years. My main monitor is an LG 34" ultrawide. I'm running Mojave on the Mac. I downloaded the latest version and opened it. The app shows some giant text on my ultrawide display, but as if I'm only looking at a quarter...

Re: Moonlight Sonata MIDI in C# minor
Yes. Thanks for sharing your file. I had a hell of a time trying to get the left and right hands sorted in my version. Did you record this? It seems to have a live feel, rather than strict quantised time. Having played along with this, I can see it's very different to the version I posted. Much more...

Re: Correct fingering for scales
Thanks for taking the trouble to explain all that. I do use the little finger to start and finish rather than the thumb. I'm sure you are right, but I find playing scales with thumbs out of alignment difficult now. I will give it a go and report back.

I am a huge fan of Joe Hisaishi and Studio Ghibli.
It also introduced me to lots of Japanes anime. But Joe is the man.

Re: Compress scrolling notes?
Thanks. This is the first time I've used Synthesia regularly as I am trying to learn Moonight Sonata, which is way out of my league, but I get such pleasure out of moving forward a few more bars.

Re: Compress scrolling notes?
For some reason the MIDI file I am using doesn't display that stuff, just a translucent black bar acrosss the middle. Thanks.

Compress scrolling notes?
Is it possible to fit more notes on the screen by compressing the vertical space? I find that i sometimes want to look at the bars coming up to prepare myself for the onslaught.

Re: Moonlight Sonata MIDI in C# minor
I am assuming this is 'adapted from works created prior to 1923', as I corrected an error in the original (see post above). There is nothing in the file AFAIK that indicates any source other than Beethoven. For some reason this version delays some notes such as 'C' in the 16th bar. Willhelm Kempff p...

Re: Moonlight Sonata MIDI in C# minor
I corrected an incorrect note in bar 7 (a G# instead of an A, which goes with the F# minor chord) using Band-in-a-Box. I also made sure the first bar starts as bar one in Synthesia.

Moonlight Sonata MIDI in C# minor
So many of these files are in the key of Db minor.
I finally hunted one down in C# minor. It is on this page:
http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/eno/677/musik.html
Strangely, it seems to be attributed to Bach...
I can now play the first 12 bars - very badly.

Re: Correct fingering for scales
C Major scale. Right hand: 12312345 for 2 octave 1231234 12312345 Left hand: 54321321 for 2 octave 5432132 14321321 -------- Thanks. Yes, I know that is correct. My question is more about whether my method is 'wrong' enough to be bad. It just feels natural to me to synchronise the thumbs. I have tr...

MIDI file - text 'echo' in note names, and change key?
I downloaded a MIDI file of Moonlight Sonata, and noticed that each note is named twice, in a kind of shadow effect. How can I remove the extra text?
Also, can I change the key? It is displaying in D flat Minor, not C sharp minor.

Correct fingering for scales
I have been practising two-handed scales for a little while - I quickly determined that a simple rule was to co-ordinate thumbs for both hands, but now I see this is not correct. For example, I play C Major starting on 4 (or 1) with the left hand. From there, the thumb always lands on the 1st and 4t...

Thanks, the 'V' does what I need. Setting the speed to zero means more farting around

Hide Instruction Overlay
I don't know if this has come up, but sometimes I want to examine the impending notes while pausing the game. I cannot do this because of the instruction overlay. I don't need to see this every time. Why can't it be hidden with a command space or something?

Re: Scales and arpeggios MIDI files
Proper technique cannot be learned without correct fingering, After struggling at first with two handed scales, I concluded that a general rule for fingering is 1231234 or 1234123 for the right hand and 3214321 or 4321321 for the left hand. Would you say that there are general fingering rules for a...
