Re: SASR - Standard Assessment of Sight Reading

covering the current measure... ok, but this doesn’t improve sight reading.. after a while you learn the sheet and you’ll start to use memory.. You don't get to pick the music or know what it is before starting. Whether it is random or chosen from a large library of exercises (I think this would be...

Re: New user registration issues.

If you are going to add a human review step, I suggest requiring a user's first post to be approved. I use that at my Miditzer Forum. A large percentage of users never post. If spammers just want to read, well OK. When a spammer tries to post, I just summarily delete their account without notice. Pr...

Re: iPad-Folders-Files?

The "MIDI Club" is an area for posting copyright free MIDI files. I would suggest searching the entire Synthesia site. Things aren't perfectly organized into the various areas.

Re: 10.5 preview r4792, r4801 - New Synth!

If I understand what you want correctly, I think you can do that by choosing different pianos for each hand and then setting the volume for each piano as you wish. Some of the pianos have very similar sounds and it takes a good ear to hear that they are different.

In the United States, for utility patents filed on or after June 8, 1995, the term of the patent is 20 years from the earliest filing date of the application on which the patent was granted and any prior U.S. or Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications from which the patent claims priority (excl...

Re: Don't understandard finger in one music

I am not familiar with the Piano for Dummies books. Judging from the Table of Contents, it seems like it takes a long time to get to playing the piano. Muddling through Amazon.fr, I found this: J'apprends... LE PIANO tout simplement Niveau 1&2 C. Astie + CD Hopefully someone who has used Piano for D...

Re: Don't understandard finger in one music

Don't feel that you have to find the book that I mentioned. I am sure there are good choices in French. Just be sure it is a self-study book intended for adults. Many books assume you will have a teacher helping you.

In fact, I just try to play one hour when I came back from my jobs. I doesn't have time to go to piano course.... I know I will learn bad habit, but I prefer have bad habit instead of not playing piano at all ... Re: Don't understandard finger in one music

Just to confirm, in the early stages of learning piano you will play with your hands in one position, as you are doing. If you have the opportunity to study with a teacher, I encourage you to do it now rather than later. When you are more comfortable with piano, you will have learned bad habits that...

Re: Don't understandard finger in one music

That is a very good question. One answer to your question is that it is difficult to learn piano from Synthesia. Synthesia is a practice tool, not a tutorial. The best way to learn is from a teacher who can see what you are doing and give you exercises and explanations tailored to your needs. If tha...

Re: New to Synthesia, 2 small questions

I stand corrected. Yes, you are referring to sight reading correctly. And I agree that Synthesia could help with learning that skill.

Re: New to Synthesia, 2 small questions

I think cmplays is talking about learning to read sheet music rather than sight reading, a common area of confusion. Reading sheet music is a basic skill. I am not sure what more Synthesia can do to help with this beyond providing a better sheet music display in Synthesia 11. Sight reading is playin...

Beyond that, we can't add any more projector-specific features because someone already patented "Synthesia plus a projector" back in 2009. (They even went so far as to include a screenshot from Synthesia in their supplemental images that help describe how the "invention" works. Well have at i...

What kind of cables do you have? And how did you establish that they work? Do your cables have an LED that flashes when data passes through from the piano to the computer? Does it flash when you play a key?

Re: Synthesia 11

The rule of thumb in the organ world, if I remember correctly, is that 20 mSec is the threshold of perceptible delay. Organists learn to cope with perceptible delay because the electro-pneumatic mechanism used to open a pipe valve takes some time to open from the time an organ key is depressed, a pi...
