Re: MIDI Filename/path

Awesome. Thanks. I have moved my local edits into a .synthesia file and restored metadata_store. All is well and I am safe from updates. Yay! I'll check out the MIDI disassembler a bit later. Disassembler indeed. I learned to code in 6502 assembly on an Apple IIe in my friends basement. I even wrote...

Re: MIDI Filename/path

Success! I edited metadata_store to have the new hash for my edited 100 years (easy).mid and also my fingers file and everything is now mostly back to normal! Of course since I moved one note, the fingers got a little messed up for a while. How they got resynced I don't understand, but a few finger ...

Re: MIDI Filename/path

Okay, I am beginning to understand this. When I edit the song (to move one note from track 3 to track 4 where it belongs) it changes the hash of the song. Even though the filename is not changed, I lose the all the meta data mapped from the metadata_store file, including friendly name, bookmarks, ha...

Re: MIDI Filename/path

Okay, I get it. The recent list has both title and filename though and that is why I'm getting the strange duplicate. First song in recent list file <Song hash="0875976c30a1fb772566c571b501d5d5" name="100 Years (easy)" user="Bob" lastPlayed="2016-Oct-22 23:47:25" path="C:\Users\Mozart\Documents\Synt...

Re: MIDI Filename/path

Okay, cool. That worked. Next question: where does the song title come from? Both "100 Years" <-- in my song list (and recently played, of course) and "100 Years (Easy)" <-- (recently played only) are mapped to the file C:\Users\Mozart\Documents\Synthesia Music\100 Years (easy).mid Apparently the ti...

MIDI Filename/path

I'm curious if there is a way to find the midi filename/path of songs in Synthesia. The song list only has titles. I have some duplicates and I'm trying to figure out where they came from. This all started from working on 100 Years which I got from your store. The song comes in two flavors: Easy and...

Re: Jittery falling notes

With FrameMinMilliseconds at the default of 5 I see 196FPS (my monitor is 60) with some tearing. By adjusting the value to 0, I see 400FPS and virtually no tearing. After some digging I found the VSYNC driver setting and enabled it. Now exactly 60FPS and no tearing - smooth as silk (also CPU usage d...

Jittery falling notes

This isn't really a bug, but I noticed the falling notes seem a bit more jittery now that I have updated to 10.3.4096 which uses OpenGL instead of DirectX. The notes also seem to stretch and shrink a bit as they are falling. Not much mind you, but annoying to my picky eyes. I'm running an older inte...

Good Keyboard with lights

I have been playing Synthesia with my Yamaha EZ-200 for several years and I really love it. Only three problems: Not full size: The key spread is 161mm instead of the standard 164-165mm Not full range: only 61 keys Non weighted keys: not very "piano like" The only problem is I don't want to give up ...

Scoreboards for music from the store

It would be cool if our recital results for music purchased from the store could be uploaded.

Currently it just says "scores for some part of an unknown song".

Thanks -- Bob

Re: Re-Striking active key should not be an error

Ooooh, that *is* a good idea. I just have to configure the song to auto-repeat and they'll never know the difference. They do seem to be addicted to ratings though. The EZ-200 has a tiny LCD display which would say "GOOD", "VERY GOOD", or "EXCELLENT" after each song, and they would crow about their ...

Re: Re-Striking active key should not be an error

Pausing for re-hitting a correct key is jarring and I agree that it shouldn't happen. That is my point exactly. I don't mind if you count it against my score as an error, just don't pause the song. As an alternative, you could change the color of the notes that have already been pressed once. That ...

Re-Striking active key should not be an error

In Melody Practice, sometimes I release a long duration note early. When I realize my error, I re-press the key. However, Synthesia thinks this is an error and halts playback. It seems very odd to be pressing the lit keys exactly and have synthesia grind to a halt. I found the setting for ignoring e...
