Re: Progression Game Mode

Yeah, for now there isn't a great way that I'm comfortable allowing access to the source. The only other developer on the project had to spend about 6 years hanging out with me before I was convinced it made sense to open those doors... and it was still a big leap for me. That's okay. I can underst...

Re: Progression Game Mode

I think both styles of game mode are viable and might appeal to different types of users. I think a guitar hero mode might be best for learning to play particular pieces, and a progression style game with random selections for learning piano skills and the basics. I'm volunteering to work on it. I c...

Re: Progression Game Mode

Thanks for the tips. I gave it a try and it does immediately have the effect of making it more game like, and importantly, more addictive. In the default mode, I can play a song and feel good about hitting most of the notes, but with the loopmaxerrors, getting kicked out before the end of the song m...

Re: Progression Game Mode

Yes, this mod is not really targeted at people who already use and enjoy Synthesia. It's more for new users who want something to get started with easily. I don't think they are catered for at all with the current software and it will really help to broaden Synthesia's appeal. Beginners learn best w...

Re: Progression Game Mode

As far as I can see, there are two major parts to it - i) Modification of the software to support the game mode ii) Selecting and creating content for the levels I think either part could be improved indefinitely, so in the first instance, I'd like to look at what's involved in making a prototype - ...

Progression Game Mode

As a complete beginner, here's how I'd most like to use Synthesia to learn. I'd like to use a 'how long can you play' progression game, where pieces of increasing difficulty are automatically queued up to play. I'd like a score that would increase where I played the right notes, for the right durati...

Re: How should I use Synthesia to teach my children Piano?

I think this was a good question, but I don't think you really got a good answer to it. I'm also really interested in exploring whether Synthesia can be used to teach a beginner how to play piano. The two answers above seem to be 'No, find a piano teacher' and 'No, you should look at some youtube vi...

Re: Has anyone tried "Piano Lesson Package for Synthesia"

I"m trying out the sample package (first 3 lessons) but the finger hints (finger number to use) to use for each note aren't displayed as expected, even with the unlocked synthesia and finger hints switched on.

Re: Synthesia for Android Beta

Almost all of it. The first Synthesia for Android beta went out the door with the "low latency audio" feature listed as a requirement. Internally, Google Play shows a list of devices compatible with your requirements. Our list showed 42. That seemed low. After a page of "Google says it's not compat...

Re: Correct Hands/Fingering for Fur Elise

I'm probably jumping too far ahead in trying to play this piece too early, but wanted to understand what was going on. Thanks for the explanation.

Correct Hands/Fingering for Fur Elise

Are these the correct fingers for Fur Elise?

Image

I feel my left hand is being asked to do what my right hand should be doing.

n.b. I'm a complete beginner!

Re: Synthesia for Android Beta

That's a cool setup! Thanks for sharing that image. Out of curiosity, how does navigating the interface work without a touch-screen? Is there something like a remote control? I've just got a mouse connected by USB - it only uses the left button. Holding down the button is a long press, but no way t...

Re: Synthesia for Android Beta

Installed successfully on a Android Stick type device. It's designed to plug into the HDMI slot of a TV or monitor - here's what the full setup looks like - http://i.imgur.com/H3XZGaql.jpg I've tried it now on three platforms (PC, iPad and now Android) - I'm surprised and impressed by the consistenc...
