Re: Best way to learn to read sheet music?

I think that's the second tail; the 2nd note is a sixteenth.

Re: Mode to improve Timing

these papers were from practicespace from music-mind-machine group in radboud university, a lot of interesting studies. http://www.nici.kun.nl/mmm/ we developed and evaluated a VFB system for two-finger trill exercises with interactive contrast training. 24 conservatory piano students participated i...

Re: Best way to learn to read sheet music?

yes, it's correct. tie literally means tying the notes throught the bars, so you hold the note through the duration, longer than what time in a bar would allow. slurs are notes played connected, note distinction becomes very low. it's harder to connect notes in piano since all we have is discrete no...

Re: Best way to learn to read sheet music?

Why is the second lowest line a darker grey color? I mean it seems normal that the middle line has a different color but why this line? Is it just to make it look good? It's just a stupid question I guess. I think it is most likely an artifact of the image, thin lines can cause such effects. Also w...

Re: Keyboard Recommendations

m-audio PROKEYS 88 would not be what you're looking for. m-audio KEYSTATION pro 88 would be more suitable. However it is a midi controller, i.e. no speakers, you need a computer or a module to hear anything. however, as far as I understand you're looking for a nice, realistic keyboard. although keys...

Re: Mode to improve Timing

the timing tolarence approach should be extended to take pressure into account as well. if someone would like that, they could calibrate their midi device to pianoissimo, mezzo-forte, fortissimo etc. then according to the dynamics on the sheet or the relative color/hue/brightness of the notes in the...

Re: provisional automatic difficulty Analysis

Is this really useful? In about 2-3 weeks (I hope) Synthesia will have the SongMetada and everyone can write this (difficult and genre) and other information in just a second. well, yes they can write, but the main problem is not to show the difficulty in the game, but rather to learn it. I mean, f...

Re: provisional automatic difficulty Analysis

May I suggest a better alternative? I'm mainly working on data mining/motif discovery and prediction algorithms, well, in a totally irrevelant area (computational biology, drug discovery etc.). Anyway I have quite a library of successful motif mining methods and knowledge of literature and I was thi...

Re: Piano midi+Maple problem

OK, I solved my own problem :) A VST was running, it seems that it blocks that midi port (or synthesia registers it as in use, I don't know), so I closed it, started synthesia first THEN the vsti (which had no problem with the port being in use by synthesia), so now it works perfectly. However there...

Piano midi+Maple problem

Hello everyone, I was planning to write a software for practicing midi files and sightreading, I'm glad I saw synthesia before I started it :) Many of the features I was going to implement is present or will be added, so it saved me a lot of time. Bought at first sight, great software. However I was...
