Re: 0.7.5 Preview r1065

cmd-w should not quit any application, just close the window. (though there need to be a way to get it back sometime later).

cmd-w != cmd-q

Re: piano midis

Your best bet is to google for "<composer> midi" then just listen to the pieces or show them in synthesia. There's also hundreds of pieces on youtube with synthesia playing different pieces, maybe it will show you if you want to play them.

Re: iPad App

No i don't have an iPad yet. But when i do get one (when they get released in norway) i will probably try it out. I don't see why it would not work. It was mostly to get a closer to all this iCraze going on. There's tons of cool piano/music apps for the iOS devices, like PianoMan (that even has mult...

Re: Using more than one MIDI-Device

You can use something like MIDI Yoke to map two (physical) inputs into a single (virtual) input. Then just choose the virtual one in Synthesia. Should work fine. Never tried it though. Might get weird if you guys both play the same note. The game would see "note down, note down, note up, note up". ...

Re: iPad App

Hook the ipad to the mac (or PC).

Use the air-something-something app that lets you use the iPad as a second screen.

Place iPad on piano.

Win.

Re: synthesia or music sheet

They created(composed) their own stuff. they already had the tune in their head (or their producers head). No need to sightread then. They play from memory.

It's just like writing symphonies while you're deaf. Some can just do it.

Make sure if you link any midi files that these are in public domain and not copyrighted by anyone or anything.

Re: MIDI In on keyboard?

You won't need MIDI IN on your keyboard to play synthesia. I only use the IN to make my piano play the notes instead of the computer because i really like the sound of it. :)

Edit:
OH, for lighted keyboards you would obviously need the midi in to get the signals to light the keys.

Re: 2010 Roadmap

I am thinking of getting a lighted piano for my daughter in a year or so. I think she'll respond well to the lights. As she's only 18 months now, it's mostly just hammering on the piano, but as long as she thinks it's fun, i'm all for it. She sometimes try to imitate what i do (for example press wit...

That video wasn't all half bad either. So, juggling, drumming, tapping hands - should keep me occupied for a while.

This freestyle should spit out notes (scrolloing upwards) - then let you try it again by coming down again (in the correct direction ofcourse). :)

Re: 0.7.4 Preview r1015 (Windows-only)

On another note:

Synthesia only sends midi out (as per keyboard setup) when you press a key on certain screens.
SENDS Main Menu
NOT song library
NOT track selection
SENDS last setup screen.
