Re: Synesthesia Mode

Yes, sort of the kind that a person with synesthesis will actually hear the music by only seeing the colors fly down. Brain is a pretty cool guy eh, makes sound of color and doesn't afraid of anything!

Re: 2010 Roadmap

HAha awesome. <- in reply to the gps image. Didn't TonE provide some fingering information for the Czerny/Hanon exercises? I think a generic system to allow reading fingering information would be sufficient. It's mostly for practicing though, Synthesia is not so much a game for me (yet) - but more t...

Re: Date not consistent with timezone

the hidden reason here was to get a little clock in since you would be peeking at the same section of code :)

Re: Light Keyboard advice ?

Date not consistent with timezone

I played some tracks a little after midnight and the high score said date was 22.08.2010 (even though it was technically 23.08.2010)

I guess either you're going with UTC/GMT or your own timezone? :)
Also, like mentioned in this post - a clock would be handy!

Re: Light Keyboard advice ?

Yes I saw it and hand mixed feelings. I like the relative simplicity of adding the notes, but i don't think synthesia should be a fingering editor - aren't there tons of software out there for adding fingering to midi metadata or otherwise? (Like TonE has done osmething about). I was trying some of ...

Re: Light Keyboard advice ?

That is cool, maybe to be safe, you could have an option "Other, use channel <input box>".

Now, enough with the lights, more with fingering information!

Re: Scales and arpeggios MIDI files

Fingering! - whatever it takes to get it faster into the game. It's my #1 "hmm" at the moment. Even on some simple czerny i'm all like .. what finger goes where! - practicing technique and memorizing seems to be my teaching bane at the moment. I'm planning on checking out Sibeilus Auralia and Musiti...

Re: Synesthesia Mode

Synesthesia (wikipedia) is a neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. In common terms, when a person with synesthesia hears a C, he sees the color purple for example. ...

Re: Synesthesia Mode

Maybe we can hook it up to a flavor generator so we can smell the flowers too? :D

Doesn't different people perceieve the same note in a different color, or is it universal? If it's different, you just need to allow people to assign colors to their notes :)

Re: Something's wrong with the MIDI

No, other than using midiox to throw everything to channel 1 i haven't. But i've been busy cleaning up the "office/piano room" and have swapped some hardware. The Terratec EWS88MT is gone (so buggy on win7) and replaeed with a cakewalk (roland) um1g usb-midi cable (seems to work just dandy fine) and...

Re: 0.7.4 Preview r998

Held-Note Scoring Buff Now that I was able to test rhythm mode scoring (using the new rhythm loop score popup), I was totally underwhelmed by the points you receive from holding notes. It's mostly because they're just flat points that aren't scaled by the current multiplier. So, instead of 50 point...

Re: 0.7.4 Preview r998

The new loop fine-tuning feature is good, but I think it should still snap to measures, visible notes and maybe 32:th notes or something, and if you really want to have no snapping you could hold down the CTRL key just like in Indesign or Photoshop. To this, my agreement is wholehearted! (though "r...

Just attach it and it'll work. You don't get any visual feedback when hitting a sustained note though ; but the sustain pedal works fine.

Re: Midi cable - one way only

On my piano i have to select (turn on) a zone for it to output midi. Maybe your piano has some similar thing? did you read the manual on how to make sure MIDI is working ok?

Re: Learning off YouTube

Only the people with learning pack keys could be possibly contacted through email (and even so it's not really advisable unless it's been selected as an opt-in feature). People on Youtube just have to .. well, get creative :) - You'll mostly just see people playing a track in rhytm mode with a decen...

Re: Something's wrong with the MIDI

Just now i started last revision, clicked play, loaded song library (it doesn't autopreview until you change) - turned off auto-preview, selected the first track in the 1 - Easy (America something) - toggled auto-preview on, and it triggered the Zones thing again. Piano has been on since yesterday. ...

Re: Something's wrong with the MIDI

No. i don't think i've experienced it doing weird stuff when playing first time (even after previewing it) - UNLESS maybe (i'm not sure, cause reproducing systematically is near impossible) if the midi preview things were changing banks (which they did last night, even if i disabled those bank selec...

Re: Something's wrong with the MIDI

Hmm... does the lower-zone thing happen consistently for the same song? It might have to do with GM/GS/XG "On" SysEx messages. You can test this out in MIDI-OX with the "Action" > "Send..." menu. See if any of those three cause the lower thing to happen. Not sure why it'd wait until the first key-p...
