Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

I agree that a graph of number of mistakes over each iteration is a better idea. But what should be the y-axis scale ? If you usually make around 5 mistakes and just once you make 50 mistakes the scale would get too big and the graph would be useless. What about a semilog graph where the y-axis is ...

Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

The keyboard can be hidden easily by dragging the blue block (that appears during pause) all the way down. "Can be hidden" is not the same as "not available" when it comes to allocating scarce screen real estate. Another thought is does the loop error count need to be displayed while you are playin...

Re: Loop error counter on full screen sheet music

As a slight digression, is the keyboard display really needed in full screen sheet music mode? I am sure some would argue that it is a better way to confirm what keys you are playing than looking at the keyboard. But I would argue that the time it takes to look at the keyboard display and confirm th...

Re: Rhythm and sheet music view error

The accidentals in measure two are because MIDI doesn't carry note naming information, so Synthesia just has to give its best guess. I imagine figuring out enharmonics from MIDI files will remain a problem despite all the sheet music improvements going into Synthesia 11. If it doesn't create too mu...

Re: Synthesia 11 Release Estimate

The chart is below 1000. Awesome! My granddaughter is about 6.5 months old. It's a really fun age as they starting exploding with developments on all fronts. But teething, among other things, can disrupt their sleep patterns. Hang in their and try to maintain consistency with the sleep routines. Mos...

Re: counting points method

If I understand your suggestion correctly, I don't think that is good teaching to reward fast playing any more than it already is. Musically it is much more important to play a note at the correct moment than to play a lot of notes quickly. In a lot of music it is more important to play the note at ...

Re: Bug with the "pace encrytion"

For now, Synthesia does what it can with a MIDI file. MIDI is only intended to convey a performance, not music notation. The display of sheet music for a MIDI file requires a lot of guess work to come up with reasonable notation for the performance described in the MIDI file. Also coming in Synthesi...

Re: Bug with the "pace encrytion"

No need to apologize for your English. It is much better than any foreign language I might attempt. To help you improve your English, I think the phrase you want for "pace" is "time signature," which is the beats per measure. Example: A time signature of 4/4 indicates 4 quarter notes per measure. Ra...

Re: Yamaha Silent pianos

Just because Yamaha uses DIN5 connectors does not mean that they necessarily use MIDI signaling. After some digging I wasn't able to find anything that said if they do or not. But I did find this, which describes a simple hardware modification to add MIDI OUT on an older Silent Piano: https://www.ge...

Re: Full Screen Sheet Music Count Off

The number of bars given for the count in changes depending on the tempo (which is great) I haven't been able to play for quite a long time, so I am not up to date on the recent changes to Synthesia. If any of these comments don't make sense, I may be remembering things that aren't correct based on...

Did you also estimate 2010? ;) (Only engineers worry about the technical correctness of their jokes. :ugeek:  )

Re: The ONE Piano Hi-Lite and Synthesia

If I remember correctly, it is bad practice to connect a shield at both ends of a cable. If connected at both ends, a current can flow in the shield and create a field rather than shielding the proper conductors contained in the shield from external electrical fields.

Re: Play along with the Original Song

Maybe it isn't as hard as it looks. If we say the premise is to help the musician play along with an MP3, then the MIDI/XML file is only driving the note display, not actually accompanying the MP3. It is the musicians responsibility to stay in sync with the MP3, not Synthesia's. Of course Synthesia ...

It might be worth trying a USB type B to type C cable to eliminate a variable or two:

Re: Auto Difficulty set (BPM based)

I think you would need to do some sort of analysis of notes per second to estimate difficulty. BPM alone isn't that informative because 120 bpm of predominantly quarter notes is the same as 60 bpm of predominantly eighth notes. But so many other things affect difficulty I find it hard to believe tha...

Re: Portable keybord for a beginner

You have received a lot of good advice. Implicit in all of it is "get a keyboard with full sized keys." You can get by without the weighted piano action for quite a while, forever if you play organ or synth rather than piano. And it isn't too hard to adapt to weighted keys later on. But non-standard...
