Re: How To Convert MP4 To MP3 In Windows 10

Premoderating posts of new users, as suggested by cmplays, does work. But there are spammers who know how to get onto a phpBB board without looking like new members. So do it. But it isn't enough. I'd also suggest looking at the pattern of domains used by the spammers. I have blocked a number of the...

Spam on this Forum is getting pretty bad. Nicholas, you need to beef up your anti-spam measures.

Re: Notes pressed labelled on top of virtual Keys

If you are going to raise some labels, it would make more sense to keep the naturals on the lower line.

Re: Sustain Pedal

Some music lends itself to holding the sustain pedal down except for brief up/down movements as needed to keep things from sounding bad. You could try playing a piece all the way through with the pedal held down. Then start finding the places where it sounds better to do a quick up/down to damp out ...

Re: Any books/resources on playing solo piano from songbooks

Comping is more of a concept than a technique. You might be playing with the right hand high up when playing with a band to stay out of the way of other instruments that play lower. But the ideas you use in the band setting can be translated lower when that space is open and needing to be filled. Th...

Re: Any books/resources on playing solo piano from songbooks

By its nature "comping" doesn't lend itself to a nice 1-2-3 explanation or teaching. But there are some fundamental ideas that can be taught to get you started. Harrison's book is probably as good as any for that purpose. Once you have some basic ideas, you'll start picking up ideas from other thing...

One name for what you are describing is "comping". Mark Harrison's "All About Piano" includes two chapters that provide an introduction to the skills involved.

Re: Count in before every loop (as option)

If you are going to add an option, I think a real Off rather than conflating off with volume would be a better choice: Off Count-in Run "Run" isn't really descriptive, but I think it is understandable in the context. I think these choices accomplish the same thing if you want count-in for songs and ...

Re: Key notes problem

The song you are playing is in the key of Eb major or C minor. These keys have 3 flats--Bb, Eb, and Ab. The note names are being displayed for the notes that are in the key. Notes that would require an accidental do not have their note name displayed. But, if I recall correctly, this change was remo...

Re: Count in before every loop (as option)

It seems like a good idea to have the possibility of a metronome count-in on loops. I don't think you need any additional controls. Just treat the start of a loop with some number of beats between loops the same as the start of a song with regard to the metronome.

Re: Change klef on left or right hand

If you mean in Synthesia's sheet music display, displaying a change of clef won't be possible until Synthesia 11. When that becomes available (no date announced), you can prepare the music as a MusicXML file and control how the sheet music looks.

Re: Two Violin Clefs

When Synthesia 11 becomes available you will be able to use a MusicXML file that includes the exact representation of the sheet music you want to see. But it will be up to you to get or create the MusicXML file.

Re: Endless tones preventing me from learning

The flash means a MIDI message has passed through the cable. MIDI sends a Note On message when you press a key and a Note Off message when you release the key. So two flashes is a very hopeful sign that the two messages are being sent. If you slowly play single notes, does Synthesia work properly? I...

Re: Notes pressed labelled on top of virtual Keys

I think this might also be useful for piano teachers in a live teaching setting. Plus, if the note names appear only when keys are pressed, it does serve a different purpose than the names on the falling notes because the falling notes give you the names of the notes you should be playing while the ...

Re: Endless tones preventing me from learning

The best guess, based on very little information, is that the keyboard is going bad. But it is probably worth a bit more investigation before you give up. The fact that the keyboard plays properly in stand-alone mode is hopeful. I would expect MIDI Out and the stand-alone to both fail if it is a key...

Re: export MIDI or musicxml with fingering

Adding finger hints in MuseScore is really painful, at least the way I do it. If anyone has a good work flow for fingering in MuseScore, please share! I don't try to bring MIDI files into MuseScore very often, but I have seen some unreadable messes in the times I've done it. But maybe I need to adju...

Re: export MIDI or musicxml with fingering

The leads to an interesting thought. Can everything that is currently being stored in a Synthesia metafile associated with a MIDI file be stored in a MusicXML file? If so, then Synthesia could create a MusixXML file having the same name as the MIDI file rather than creating a metafile. Synthesia cou...
