Re: How do I connect an iPad mini?

Thanks Nicholas. I knew it had to be somewhere. Question... When connecting my keyboard, is it just going to magically work like so many apple products do, or am I going to need to find some drivers somewhere?

How do I connect an iPad mini?

Sorry to have to ask is question, but I searched for about 30 minutes and couldn't find the answer. I just got an iPad mini and need to know what hardware to purchase to connect it to my Casio Privia PX-320. I thought there would be a sticky or some instructions in the app on how to do that. If ther...

Re: Learning to accompany

"Check piano man Steve's rythm course." YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for.... only, ideally I'm really hoping to discover someone that has put lessons like that in to Synthesia. My mind is really funny when it comes to learning music. Synthesia is ideal for my style of learning....

Re: Learning to accompany

Thanks guys. "Start by learning to grind out solid backing rhythms." This is exactly what I'm wanting to learn. I play several different instruments already, so I have a working knowledge of what things are *supposed* to sound like... I just don't have any examples I can reference for technique. The...

Learning to accompany

Hi all. I bought Synthesia many versions ago and have been out of the loop for a while. I'm so impressed by the progress you've made in the past couple of years, Nicholas! Synthesia has turned in to something you should be very proud of. So, maybe it's time to upgrade to the latest version and start...

Re: How bout some kid friendly features?

I remember there was a free game I searched before called "Piano Ace" or something like(not actually quite accurate). It was actually what you said there is a rocket shooting the falling note scrolling down and it was designed for kids, too. If there is anyone knowing this exact name, please post t...

Re: How bout some kid friendly features?

Well, I'm not really proposing that the game *look* any different. I'd just like for my girls to be able to plug in their laptops and use Synthesia without me being in the house. Right now they really can't do that. It's just too complicated to load up a song and check to make sure "You play" is set...

How bout some kid friendly features?

I hope this is the right place to put this. I suppose it could also go in the "Learning to play" section. I have 2 kids, the youngest of which is 5. They just don't have the ability to get all the way through loading a song into Synthesia and playing it. So I thought about a couple of things I wante...

Re: Sheet-only song display

How in the world you made a sheet music display that works at all is still a mystery to me. I mean, how in the world do you deduce 1/4, 1/2, whole notes, time, etc from a MIDI file? You, sir, are magical! :)

I just downloaded them all. Thanks for sharing your hard work, Electrode! I plan on using these files to help me to learn to read sheet music.

Re: Any good MIDI files for learning to read music?

Thanks Jim! I'll give it a try tonight. While searching for the files you mentioned, I also stumbled on to Electrode's MIDIs for scales, melodic scales, variations and arpeggios. I'm not certain, but I'll bet they'll be helpful for learning, too! Looks like Nicholas is even considering a graded "les...

Any good MIDI files for learning to read music?

First, my sincere apologies if this question has already been posted. I searched for about 10 minutes and couldn't find a similar topic. I've been playing various musical instruments most of my life. I started with the banjo at age 13, but even before then my mom has written in my baby book that I w...

Re: Default Input Output

It should be. If the keyboard is plugged in, turned on, and there long enough for the OS to recognize something is attached, Synthesia will select it every time. I'll have to play with it some more when I get time, but I'm almost positive that if I've managed to fire up Synthesia without the keyboa...

Default Input Output

This may not be a feature request. I'm not sure. My daughter is starting to show interest in learning piano. The problem is that when she grabs the laptop to fire up Synthesia, even if the DP is plugged in to the laptop prior to opening Synthesia, the game may or may not select the proper I/O for th...

Re: Has anyone found a decent Linus and Lucy Midi?

Nicholas, this actually brings up a question I've been meaning to ask. Now that the looping feature is available and I'm really using Synthesia to learn music, I'm finding that I'm making small improvements to the songs I'm learning. Is there a way to "record" what I play, put it in a midi file and ...

Has anyone found a decent Linus and Lucy Midi?

OK, I've tried all the midi sites listed in the forums here. I've Googled 'til I'm blue in the face. There are plenty of midi files out there that claim to be Linus and Lucy, but so far they are all just hollow skeletons of the original by Vince Guaraldi. Really, what I've found is the same 4 or 5 m...

Definitely worth it. I can't imagine using Synthesia without the learning pack. Hands down the best money I've ever spent on a musical teaching tool.

I'm currently learning music for the holidays. Tons of midi files all over the net for that.
