Re: What sort of piano shouldI buy?

What is your budget? We can recommend some great equipment, but it depends on your goals, how serious you are about learning and how much you want to spend. First off, if you're just wanting to goof around and play, pretty much any old USB connected keyboard will work. The EZ-200 is probably just fi...

Re: A couple of bookmark suggestions

Switch 'you play tracks' to 'played automatically', but don't change the other tracks. Because I don't want that the 'not played' tracks and 'played but hidden' tracks switch to played automatically if I hit that note. WOW! I had no idea what I was going start. :) Kasper hit the nail on the head. T...

Re: A thank you to Nicholas

There's no "might have been able to help" to it. You have absolutely helped me... more so than any other teacher or any other method. It's now like Synthesia was written specifically for me and the way my brain is geared to learn. I'll probably post another video in the future. I think next time I'l...

Re: A couple of bookmark suggestions

Oh, I just thought of one more... when you're playing a song and you've chosen "You play" for the notes, is there a way to quickly turn off "You play" so you can listen to what the song is supposed to sound like? The songs I'm learning right now have so many notes in some places that when playing th...

A couple of bookmark suggestions

Or heck, maybe they're just questions I haven't figured out yet. I'm absolutely LOVING the section looping feature. I've played more piano in the past week than I have in the past year. It's been a blast! A couple of things I wanted to mention to see if maybe there's already a way to do them... and ...

Re: .mid file doesnt work with synthesia

If it were me, I'd run a check disk on my hard drive to rule out the possibility of drive corruption. I'm in I.T. as a profession, and I have seen instances where a file will get deleted, then redownloaded... and since the file is the same size, same checksum, same everything, it gets put right back...

Re: .mid file doesnt work with synthesia

Did you delete and re-download? File corruption would be my first guess. Can you open other midi files? What about the ones that come with Synthesia?

Re: .mid file doesnt work with synthesia

It worked fine for me. You may want to try deleting it from your hard drive and downloading it again. It may have gotten corrupted on the first download.

I just checked, and all of my midi files are ".mid" files, so I don't think it's the file extension that's giving you problems.

Re: midi guitar with synthesia???

This was a really interesting topic to read. I hadn't heard about the 120 button controller, so I had to get online and check it out. What I found was so awesome! http://www.gizmag.com/rock-band-3-real-instruments-rhythm-gaming/15391/ They're coming out with a fully stringed controller. Apparently t...

It's true we have been waiting a long time for a feature like this and it's also true that Nicholas has made an excellent work with it.
Indeed he did! Thank you for the kind words.

A thank you to Nicholas

Hey Nicholas. I hadn't been to the site in a while, but last weekend I logged in and saw that you had actually finished the bookmark and looping features I had been waiting for. I gotta tell you, it's everything I'd hoped it would be. I immediately downloaded it and fired it up. After 5 days of play...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

In my idea I can move bookmarks using the horizontal progress bar, but if we think about this we can see it's not a good idea. Depends on the duration of the song, just a very little movement of the bookmark in the Progress Bar could be like several measures. It's like when we try to find a specifi...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

Nicholas that looks fantastic! It's almost exactly what I had envisioned. I'd still prefer to be able to move bookmarks using the horizontal progress bar, but I can understand your reasoning for not putting that functionality in there. Of course, the big question that no one has asked yet is, how lo...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

I don't think you'd really want multiple bookmarks in the exact same place. If you've bookmarked 1 specific place and want to use it in multiple repeating loops, just reference that bookmark in each loop. Not to knock your ideas, Vicentefer, because I think your video was awesome. Some great stuff i...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

I like a lot of the stuff I saw there. In a week or so, I'll be able to mock up my ideas too, so I can compare them against yours. The difference so far is that instead of dealing with ranges, I was going to focus on bookmark "points", and then on the bar, you could click-and-drag between points to...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

Your idea is close to what I had in mind, Max. Pretty soon (just after 0.7.0 is finished -- which is *rapidly* approaching) I'll try to mock-up my own idea. Awesome! ...There isn't any zoom, but considering the bar is traveling the width of the screen and a >10 minute song is rare, I wasn't too wor...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

OK, here's my idea represented graphically (once again, I dreamed this up knowing that I don't have a clue what it would take to program this.) BookmarkIdea.jpg Right below the keyboard we have a graphical representation of the song. It's not meant to be detailed. It just gives us a place to put the...

Re: Practicing certain sections in practice mode

I'm confused. Why would I want to position bookmarks in the Metadata window where I can't hear the song? It seems to me bookmark placement would best be done in the playing screen as the song is playing. Sure going from measure to measure might work, but what if I wanted a bookmark to start in the m...
