Hi Apple users,
So it's possible to modify the défault sound used by the system (quicktime and so on) and also by Synthésia when you use the built in midi synthetizer at the default output.
Tested on the latest El Capitan.
First it's located here:
/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/gs_instruments.dls
I had replaced it by the fury.dls cause the old one is slighty better than the windows one...
You can replace it by any dls you want....
How to:
You 'll need to have administrator right for it.
Then you 'll need to disable the SIP it's a protection again possible fails of sécurity on OSX so re enable it after you've changed the .dls
For to do this just boot on the recovery partition:
cmd+R at the boot of the system
Then open a terminal and type:
csrutil disable
A message 'll confirm sip is desactivated you can check the status of the sip typing in a terminal:
csrutil status
Then reboot you're machine.
Rename you're dls sound (eg fury.dls) by gs_instruments.dls
go to :
/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/gs_instruments.dls
And replace the gs_instrument.dls by the new one of the same name.
Reboot on recovery mod (cmd+R at the boot screen with the apple logo)
Reenable the sip
csrutil enable.
Reboot you're osx
Enjoy a better sound for you're midi and for Synthesia
