Hi everyone, hi Nicholas

I haven't been in here in like 6 years, it's been a while. Big props to Nicholas for keeping up the development, I'm still grateful it exists!

I remember there have been threads around demanding a Steam version, back then there were some considerations whether it was feasible, but I was wondering whether Synthesia could also be brought to the AUR.

A little context: Arch Linux is a Linux distro, a "flavour" of Linux similar to the more popular Ubuntu and Mint (imagine it standing next to Windows and MacOS, if you haven't heard of it yet). Most common Linux distros have a software repository where you can easily download most applications - but what makes Arch special is that it has the Arch User Repository, AUR. The AUR is a giantic repository of scripts which compile and/or fetch binaries to install said software.

I'm not asking for the source of Synthesia to become public, nor do I demand it to be ported for it to become part of the software repositories. What I would like, is that with the guide for Linux I wrote many years ago in this category of the forum, there would be an entry for Synthesia as well.

I haven't used Synthesia in a while and I most certainly don't know the current state of development, but if it were on a stable branch and not requiring many fundamental changes qua dependencies, it should not need many maintenance of said entry in the AUR, I assume. Furthermore, I assume this target audience is very small as most people who run Arch should be able to salvage themselves for otherwise they would definitely not be running Arch, but my point is that as someone coming from this perspective, it would add to the mentality of making things easier and saving time setting things up. A more convenient setup for all Linux users in general could be made by diving into its possibilities.

What are your thoughts?

Hi Aria, long time no see! :)

This covers my most recent thoughts on making a Linux version of Synthesia (which you may find hasn't changed much over the years).
