Hi Nicholas. Whilst using the 'easiest' folder as a teaching resource I was puzzled that this song started on a whole note. It seemed more likely that it should be a quarter note upbeat. I tracked down the original, "Dans la Forêt Lointaine", and it does indeed start on the upbeat. I found the song on free=score.com.
Just thought you might like to know.

I've been keeping a short list of these sorts of things for the big conversion over to built-in MusicXML songs. When Synthesia 11 eventually makes its way out the door, we'll be replacing all the built-in music with versions that have "perfect" sheet music. That will be a good time to iron out these kinds of small details.
