Hello Nicholas and other users. I've long wanted to see more support for triplets. One question first, does Synthesia calculate the duration of triplets, like 2/3 for each note of the duration of a quarter note triplet? They seem to be displayed correctly as falling bars, but not on the sheet music display. Is there a long time until we'll see a full support for triplets, or an overall improvement of the sheet display?
I was going to ask for a feature to set the metronome to an eight note, but then I noticed you can set it at double speed, which is essentially the same. I guess you don't have to set it to click on a sixteenth note often, but it wouldn't hurt to have the alternative.

Synthesia doesn't calculate anything for the falling note display. That is all determined by how the MIDI file is coded.
I can't speak to "reverse engineering" the sheet music display for triplets. I can say in general that creating a good sheet music display from a MIDI file is not easy and I don't think you will ever see more than a "pretty good try" in Synthesia or even in software more specifically aimed at that type of thing. At some point, it takes human intervention to make a really good piece of sheet music. MIDI to sheet music is about like machine translation of a foreign language.

Well, I never insisted it was easy. Still this is what says on https://www.synthesiagame.com/features.aspx
Improved Sheet Display: Triplets Learning Pack Feature
Learning Pack: This will be available to users with a Learning Pack unlock key.
Triplet notes should be detected and displayed properly.
The only question is where this feature is in the priority queue (I'm studying them right now!) There are a lot of other features above it in the voting list.

I don't know if it is of interest but I posted a triplet exercise here:

I can provide you with sheet music for that if it is of interest.

The ordering of that feature list is outdated. I've actually been meaning to take that page down for a while now. (Done!)Pianotehead wrote:The only question is where this feature is in the priority queue (I'm studying them right now!) There are a lot of other features above it in the voting list.
More current information: Synthesia 9 (the release after 8.4) will include another sheet music improvement pass. Triplet detection is scheduled to be included in that pass.
