When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).

I've found that after about five minutes of practicing, whenever I start a song, the notes will hit the keyboard, but the sound doesn't come till at least a second afterwords. It stays like this for the rest of the song, and no matter how many times I close and reopen the app, it won't work normally again until I restart my phone (I have the app on Android).
Is your keyboard connected through a USB-to-MIDI adapter? (Which brand/model?)
Otherwise, have you tried switching to the other "Music Device Connection Method" at the top of the Settings screen? (And then completely restarting the app by swiping it closed.) Does that prevent the delay?
