Constant crash after 20 seconds on Linux

Trouble with Synthesia, your keyboard, or adapter? Think you found a bug?
When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).

If your keyboard has USB or MIDI ports, there is a tremendously high chance (>99%) it will work with Synthesia. See what you'll need on the keyboards page.

Synthesia just crashes approximately 20 seconds after start for unknown reason. Using wine 1.7.11 and r2613.
Everything works, but it just closes right in front of me. I also get an error message from wine, but it closes too fast for me to read what it says.

Which renderer are you using? If you switch to the other one, does the crash still happen?

It happens when using OpenGL as well as DirectX.

Hmm. Does it matter which screen you're on? Like... if you just sit at the title screen does the crash still happen? Or did you mean 20 seconds after a song starts playing?

It happens on all screens.

Hmm. I can't see anything in any of those three logs that gives any clues as to what's going wrong. I guess the next thing to check is whether this is only happening on your Linux box or if it happens for everyone running Wine 1.7.11.

Actually it looks like you're a little ahead of the stable release. (Stable looks like it's 1.6.2) Does it crash with 1.6.2? If not, I'd chalk this up to an in-development Wine bug.

It's not Wine who's at fault (using. I installed the multilib versions of libmpg123 and lib32-ncurses and everything is working fine now. Can't say it's solved, unless others report the same by installing these libraries. Using r2613 on Wine 1.7.12 (beta) at the moment, on 64-bit machine.
On a side note, the GDI+ error still persists, but it doesn't cause a crash and I don't know what it's affecting.

That's very strange. I'm not sure what would have been in libmpg or libncurses that would have changed anything. Then again, we didn't know the root of the problem in the first place. Hrm. At least it's good to hear you're back up and running.

The problem occurs again, it crashes constantly, even after rebooting. What I found out, is that removing the wine folder (/home/me/.wine) prior to running Synthesia fixes the issue. I'm still trying to figure out what causes this.

Synthesia 10.0.3266 is not working on my machine with Ubuntu 14.10 (64b) with Wine 1.6.2. it doesn't matter if OpenGL or DirectX.
On the same machine, Synthesia 9.0.2495 works fine.

On Synthesia 10, the application opens correctly, but when you press "configuration" or "play a song", it crashes.
For me it is not related on a 20s time lapse.

I attach dump file if it can help.

I can help with tests if you need it.

This actually sounds like it might be related to this new bug report that Windows users are also having in 10. It sounds like the conditions for the problem are the same... just that the symptoms (crash vs. drawing failing) are a little different.

Which video hardware are you using on your Ubuntu machine? Is it Nvidia?

It is an Intel HD 4400 , the one that goes inside an Intel i7 4500U.

Hmm, after a little more narrowing down, this might not be related to the other problem after all.

I also tried a Ubuntu 14.04 Live USB (with Wine 1.6.2) with Synthesia 10.0.3266 and it seemed to work fine.

Worse: I just spent another two hours trying to make something of the mini-dumps produced by Wine, and still had no luck. When you try to open the PDB symbols in winedbg when the mini-dump is loaded, it just says "No longer supported". So for now, I don't have a next step to track this down. :(
