Hi

I connected my piano (DP250 from gear4music) to my Ipad Mini and after a very long time my keyboard appears in my devices. The first time it was working very good, I could play on my piano and synthesia 'knew' what I was playing. The next time I wanted to play (it has been disconnected in mean while) I could connect again but Synthesia doesn't react to my piano anymore. I didn't change anything about the settings, I just did the same thing as I did before. My keyboard is selected as input but it also doesn't react when I press the keys to see how much keys there are. I can hear on my piano what I'm playing but the program does nothing.

I'm using a USB, connected with my Ipad with a lightning usb camera reader. I don't have any midi ports and I'm using the most recent version of Synthesia.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope someone can help!

Hmm, do you remember if you updated your iPad Mini to a new version of iOS between when it was working and when it wasn't? We've heard from one other user that an update to iOS 8 seems to have broken compatibility with their keyboard.

Something to try, just to double-check it's not a stale connection issue. (Sometimes the iPad gets into a bad state with connected devices.)
  1. Hold the sleep button on your iPad until you get the "Slide to Power Off" prompt.
  2. Slide to power off.
  3. Disconnect the lightning side of your camera adapter from the iPad.
  4. Hold the sleep button to power your iPad back on.
  5. Wait until it's fully booted and back at the home screen.
  6. Plug the adapter back in.
  7. Wait a few seconds.
  8. Start Synthesia.
Does it work after all of that?

Now my keyboard doesn't appear in my devices anymore :?
I updated my Ipad before I had my piano, but maybe it's ios8 in general?
It's pretty weird, sometimes it works and now it doesn't work at all..

This is very frustrating for both of us! I just checked (for the third time) to see if Apple mentioned anything in their iOS 8 (or 8.1) release notes about anything in the CoreMidi framework changing. And (for the third time) it looks like everything should be working exactly how it always has.

I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for you right now. If your keyboard also has MIDI ports, you might be able to get a more reliable connection going through a MIDI adapter instead of direct via USB.

Let's hope it will be working properly one day, with another update or something :/ thanks for your help anyway!
