I see that the YPT320 is recommended here: http://www.synthesiagame.com/keyboard_r ... tions.aspx
unfortunelately I can't seem to find it anywhere near I live, so I would have to import it. however, there is a store nearby that has the YPT-210.

so my question is, can anyone explain the difference between these two? how do they compare? i assume the ypt-210 works with synthesia as well.

fyi i'm a beginner so I won't need anything of high quality to start with.

The YPT-210 should work with Synthesia. I think the YPT-320 has been replaced by the YPT-330. Based on a quick glance, I think they are all the same mechanically and it is only features that distinguish them. For playing basic piano there is probably little or no difference.

If you are interested in the piano literature, you will probably outgrow 61 keys within a year. 76 keys might last 2 to 3 years. Most likely you'll want weighted keys before you outgrow 76 keys. Going to weighted keys is expensive and you can get started without them. A weighted 88 note keyboard can be your second keyboard once you think you'll stick with it. Having 61 keys on your first keyboard will probably hasten the upgrade to a weighted 88 note keyboard while 76 keys will make the upgrade less urgent. You won't be developing real finger strength until you start playing a weighted keyboard. Of course, you won't need real finger strength if you never play a weighted keyboard. The weighted keys also help in developing a nuanced touch.

The Yamaha YPG-235 76-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard is probably similar to the YPT-210 but with more keys.
