Looking for software that would allow me to preview songs in a folder.

I have VLC & WMP which allows playlist, but I'm looking to just preview the songs for maybe 15 or 20 seconds.

Similar to something like CD Baby or Amazon has, that allows you to preview the songs of an album.

Did you mean "MIDI Preview Software" or did you actually mean MP3 in your subject line?

In either case, I've never used it but I've heard lots of people mention VanBasco's player before.

Our very own Lemo created something cool that might do the job, too. I haven't used it but it looks a lot like a MIDI player.

I don't think VanBasco's player would play previews except by manually fast forwarding through a playlist.

You should try VanBasco's player because it might give you some ideas about things that could be done in Synthesia.

Did you have something particular in mind? I just grabbed it and played a few dozen songs through it. It is definitely loaded with functionality, but nothing jumped out at me as a candidate for inclusion in Synthesia.

Thanks for the replies.

Looking for MP3 player. Sites like Amazon, CD Baby, etc ... have a player that allows you to preview
an album. Plays each song for 20 seconds or so.

Does Vanbasco work with MP3 ?

The mixer window is nice and would be even better if it gave you a volume slider for each MIDI channel along with the mute and solo buttons.

Playlists might be nice so you can move through the pieces you are working on without having to wade through the whole library. I don't know if I'm unusual but I am usually trying to work on about 10 songs at any given time. I could use playlists just so I remember everything I should be working on.

Transposition has been discussed elsewhere.

Supporting karaoke lyrics has been discussed.

As I see it, VanBasco's Player is the equivalent of Synthesia for singers. It is a category leader and has been for a long time. The way I see it, it's just one of those programs you need to be familiar with if you are in this space whether or not you ever directly adopt any feature it has.

I'll readily agree with you. I really should have taken a look sooner. Like I said before: tons of great stuff there.

Latest version of VLC is 2.08 it's better to upgrade ;)

So my bad i have checked and u right vlc and wmp haven't this function (wmp have a preview function but manually) i was pretty sure again sorry so i decided to find a soft for you that do this.

First i have tried with foobar who is powerfull but what no Oo no preview mod natively -_- However a plug-in 'll do the job http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php ... (foo_seek)

Then i have checked my favourite software for playing music or videos JRiver media center and it has this options and u can set by 10 20 30 40 50 sec with 2 clicks.
There's a free version who have this function (personnaly i use the free version for to play/organize my midi files and the output is set on a soundfont ^^

Here's the how to player==>player option==>preview and choose the lenght.

Maybe Winamp, media monkey etc... have it too But i really like Jriver for tons of reasons...

I'm trying the JRiver Jukebox. Pretty nice and it does have the preview option.

Do you have these issues on your system :

Volume gets reset to full blast on album change or restarting the program.

Preview option does not stay set on album switch.

Thanks Kiwi
