I don't know why but I feel annoyed when having a metronome on. Basically I feel that it's hard to start when having the metronome going and even harder to try to continue playing having the metronome on. I know it's importiant to keep the same tempo all the time but it feels like I do it better without metronome (which is probably not right). So, how can I get used to playing with metronome and is it really needed?

It takes time to get used to the metronome. I find it hard to use at a tempo much below 70 because my brain doesn't like to "connect the dots" at the much lower speeds". In that case you can use a faster speed (eg 100 instead of 50) and count eighth notes instead of quarter notes.

I usually practice at 140 BPM...

Any tips of where I should start if I want to get used to the metronome? Any songs that are good for that?
