Nice logo. :)

It's here now, too!

... and as the icon for the program (and the config tool).

Just the front-page and the video left to go. I'll do those a day or so after the 0.7.5 release.

I'd like to help out by adding to the Wiki. Is anyone doing anything that I should be aware of so I'm not working at cross-purposes with work in progress?

I don't think there has been an edit there in the better part of a month. ;)

I was hoping the initial enthusiasm would propel the contents far enough along to the stage where it was generally useful enough to be posted on the front page of the site.

It didn't quite make it there and I've just been bad at drumming up excitement for it with all the other things going on recently.

It would be awesome if you wanted to help out!

I added a bunch of screen shots and some text to the Quick Start page of the Wiki:
http://www.synthesiagame.com/wiki/index ... tart_Guide

I am trying to provide a concise guide to quickly some playing their first song. Comments regarding my effort are appreciated. Is there anything more that should be covered here? Anything that doesn't need to be said here?

That looks great to me.

Though, in 0.8.0 the play settings screen is pretty dramatically different. (Take a look at the dev preview version if you're curious. The big change is already in there.)

Lemo asked for info to be kept together, I posted about some major changes I made to the wiki
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2819&p=19977#p19972

Important thing is to, add a category tag to the bottom of every new page with either
---- (line break) plus
[[Category:Manual]] or
[[Category:Users]] or
[[Category:Related]]

Lemo thought there was too much text on main, I think you'll get used to it and a lot of traffic will be from new users in the future, other wikis have a lot more i was basing my work on http://wiki.contribs.org/Main_Page

another thing Lemo mentioned was about which scanning software to use

In my new related category i've been adding individual tools/sites
maybe it would be better to generalise the topic and put similar things together
ie musescore means nothing in the category list but notation software does

eg
then we add a page scanning software and users document their software of choice

Nicholas, could you look into tweaking the display of the wiki

now it shows,
http://www.synthesiagame.com/wiki/index ... tart_Guide
but it could be cleaner
http://www.synthesiagame.com/wiki/Quick_Start_Guide

see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL

eg
http://wiki.contribs.org/Lilypond

actually have a look at the MediaWiki Extension part of the page and see if you want to implement the lilypond -> wiki mode
(I documented it btw if you have questions)
note contribs.org doesn't have the extension enabled, i had that on my own server at some stage

Nicholas
would you consider deleting some pages please
they are left over for being renamed, they show up in the special page "all pages''
i marked them [[category:delete me]]

We have a manual
it's possibly ready to be linked in the left hand menu, 2nd item ?

ok, everything is now basically accessible from four pages,
the home page,
from there - the FAQ, the Synthesia Manual and now the Related Material Manual
The two Manuals link together separate wiki pages

please note, from Talk:Related_Manual
*Piano Learning Aids
this needs a lot of work, to rearrange or create the structure properly,
someone with some piano pedagogy skills needs to get stuck in
no need to reinvent the wheel just some guidance and links

Looks good. And I got a chance to learn how to fumble around with that sidebar menu. ;)

Still working on the simple URLs. I'm not on Apache, so I have to find a workaround.

Is there a Synthesia manual in a notepad or PDF form?
If there isnt I could make one.

Alright, simple URLs should work now. Let me know if anything is flaky or not working correctly. Thanks!

The wiki is a better way to handle that. Because Synthesia is still rapidly changing each release, it's easier to keep up to date. It's sort of a living document.

Having one keeper of one PDF makes it harder to maintain and respond to changes.

Just noticed all the new posts around here!
Nicholas how come any active topic in "Completed Requests" won't appear in Active topics :?:

If we continue on this thread, I would suggest to lock the other one (on a nice ending of forest and nature ^^) and move this one in another category

About the wiki itself, the manual is neat, but how are you doing those screenshots?
Apparently there is a scale? filter that alter the image quite much or add crazy contrasts to it
Or is it really what you see with your graphic card?
Image

Looks like that for me

I can replace some if you like (the ones not related to learning pack...)

@Nicholas
Thanks for fixing the side menu,
Short URLs work if you hack the url, it's just that the links revert back to long, it'd be nice but I'd rather you work on the programs if it came down to it

@DC64
You can create a PDF at anytime, open the manual, select printable version from the sidebar, print to pdf

@lemo
I'm running ubuntu/wine, that's what i see, please feel free to replace any/all images
I also scale some images in the wiki eg |px540 so every image isn't a different size
