Recently I was searching for a replacement of windows GS Wavetable Synth and found this cool app.
http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtu ... h#download
It also supports Synthesia and provides a variety of great soundfonts. In my opinion it brings a sense of realism on the PC since the default GS Wavelength doesnt support half of midi features(sustain pedal, etc.)
Have fun with this one.

I downloaded and tried it out, first of all Synthesia takes longer to load, after I have choosen CoolSoft as output and press test, nothing happens, tried with two different soundfonts.

I'd be curious to hear other people's experiences with it. It really does look like an improved version of BassMIDI.

And one with a link that I'd be able to track down. :D

I was just able to get the "Test" button on the keyboard setup screen to work once, but after the first device reset it seems to no longer work. I wonder if it's related to the Synthesia "Midi.HardReset" option that BassMIDI would have trouble with sometimes...

At any rate, that channel mixer is totally awesome.

I'm using SynthFont right now, It works perfectly! - http://www.synthfont.com/SynthFontSetup.exe
I use it in Windows Seven 64-bit, BASSMIDI does not support 64-bit it seems.
SynthFont is a bit harder to configure than CoolSoft but not much.
You can also chosse which sound/instrument in the soundfonts you want to use.

But I think you need to use it with LoopBe1 to make it work with Synthesia, I had to at least.

Same here
Would have liked to try with large soundfonts and complex midis to see if I get less glitch than Bassmididrv...

I use it since the prerelease ,works perfectly and is fast on loading with the titanic soundfont. And now with the channel mixer it's usefull for other app than synthesia who don't have midi channel control.

Maybe you're using an older version then, the current one is 1.3.1, what is yours?
All the versions seem to be available if you type the links manually

Sorry for the late.
I use the latest version 1.3.1 (there's an update checker in the soft anyway)
I think if u have trouble ,it's beetween the soft and you're driver/soundcard.
I have a realtek.

With reference to software synthesizers I found these two informative sites about them .

http://www.sygyt.com/en/installing-your ... ynthesizer

http://www.softpianola.co.uk/midi4.html

There is also some reference to virtualmidisynth in the second site.
Also there has been a new beta of virtualmidisynth(1.4 ver10) which u may like to test out on synthesia.
