New to synthesia and having trouble getting my laptop to recognize the keyboard when connected with midi to USB cable. The keyboard recognizes the laptop when I use output test in settings. The keyboard plays the tune and the display shows the keys being played but not the other way around. Hoping someone could help, thanks

Unfortunately, that appears to be a new "shape" of the usual <$15 adapters to avoid. There is a chance it could be something else (which model keyboard are you using?), but communication only working in one direction sounds a lot like the kinds of problems these incredibly cheap, white-label adapters usually suffer from.
