mark some notes as "not required"

Trouble with Synthesia, your keyboard, or adapter? Think you found a bug?
When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).
  • If your keyboard has USB or MIDI ports, there is a tremendously high chance (>99%) it will work with Synthesia. See what you'll need on the keyboards page.
  • If you have a Logitech webcam and can't get your keyboard/adapter to work, see this post.

is it possible to mark a few notes as "not required" to press during practice?

i don't know exactly what this type of play is called exactly (if it has a name I'd love to know), but with a lot of beethoven or some chopin pieces, you have to repeat 2 notes a few times really fast... you know? and I find it hard to do it correctly and still maintain proper rhythm of the song, two examples

so I wondered if a feature exists which allows to mark some notes as "not required"

Yep, you can use the hand assignment tool to mark notes as either belonging to the background or to be removed completely.

Just choose the little gear icon from the tool palette to mark background notes. Or the red X to mark notes that should be omitted.
